# Restrictions due to policy violations

To maintain high-quality conversations on the WhatsApp Business Platform, WhatsApp may **restrict or disable accounts** that repeatedly violate its policies.

It is essential to follow:

* the **WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy**;
* the **WhatsApp Commerce Policy**.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in temporary restrictions or even account deactivation.

### Violation notification and right to appeal

If your WhatsApp Business account violates any policy, you will receive a notification informing you of the occurrence.\
In this situation, you can:

* view the **violation details**;
* understand which **restrictions are active**;
* and, if applicable, **submit an appeal** requesting a review of the case.

> **Note:** it is possible to submit appeals for policy violations within the timeframe of **up to 90 days** after the notification.

### How to view policy violation details

Follow the steps below to check the violation information on your WhatsApp Business account:

1. Go to the **Business Support Home Page**.
2. Click on **View my accounts**, in the **My accounts**.
3. Scroll the page until you find the **business portfolio** to which the restricted WhatsApp Business account is linked.
   * You may see the indication **"Assets with restriction"**.
4. Click on the business portfolio.
5. Scroll the screen to the **WhatsApp Accounts**.
   * The affected account may appear with the status **"Account issues"** or **"Account disabled"**.
6. In the **Activity issues**section, go to the tab **Available for review**.
7. Click on the policy-related issue.
8. Select **View details** to view:
   * a **summary of the violated policy**, with a link to the corresponding policy;
   * information about **active restrictions** and what happens in case of another violation;
   * guidance on **how to avoid future violations**;
   * possible actions to **resolve the violation**, when applicable;
   * instructions on **how to submit an appeal**.

### How to request an appeal

If you believe that your account **did not violate WhatsApp policies**, you can request a review directly through the area indicated in the violation details.

Just follow the instructions shown on the platform to submit your appeal and wait for WhatsApp's evaluation.
