# Contacts - How to Archive

Archiving Contacts allows you to keep your database organized by removing records that should no longer take part in automations, campaigns, and platform communications.

{% hint style="danger" %}

### **Important:**

Archived Contacts stop participating in **any automation or sending**, including CRM, Customer Support, Automation Flows, Message Queues, and Email Marketing campaigns.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
💡 **Archived Contacts do not count toward your plan’s Contacts limit**, helping organize the database and optimize the contracted usage.
{% endhint %}

See below how to archive your Contacts.

### How to archive Contacts

#### Access the “Contacts” feature

**Menu → General → Contacts**\
Or type the function name in the **Find Services**.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/Ez4SydMkuRE>" %}

#### Select the Contacts

In the list, select the **Contacts** you want to archive.

Selection can be made:

* Individually;
* In bulk.

After selecting the **Contacts**:

* Click on the **action bar**;
* Click the option **“Archive”**.

### Archiving rules

#### Contacts with open Opportunities

It is not possible to archive **Contacts** that are linked to **open Opportunities**.

This rule prevents the loss of important information and stops ongoing negotiations from being interrupted.

#### Archived Contacts do not participate in automations

After being archived, the **Contacts** stop participating in any type of automation or platform communication.

This includes:

* Automation Flows;
* Customer Support;
* CRM;
* Message Queues;
* Email Marketing campaigns.

In this way, Contacts will remain without receiving communications until they are unarchived.

### Best practices for archiving

#### Clean up your contact base

Use archiving to keep your database organized by removing **inactive Contacts** or those that should no longer receive communications.

#### Review automations before archiving

Before archiving a **Contact**, check whether it is part of any active automations or important flows, avoiding impacts on your communication strategy.

#### Create an organization routine

Archive periodically to keep the database more organized, avoid an excess of unnecessary contacts, and make your communication more effective.

### How to unarchive Contacts

The unarchiving process works similarly to archiving.

You can unarchive the **Contacts** manually, using the same selection method:

* Select the **Contacts** desired
* Click on the **action bar**;
* Click the option **“Unarchive”**.

Unarchiving can also be done automatically through:

* **API**;
* **Chatbot**;
* **Forms**.

### Conclusion

Archiving **Contacts** is an important feature for keeping your database organized and ensuring more efficient management of records on the platform.

In addition to preventing inactive Contacts from taking part in automations and communications, the **Archived Contacts are also not counted toward the plan’s Contacts limit**, helping with database organization and optimization.

Before archiving, make sure the **Contact does not have any open Opportunities** and does not take part in flows that are important to your strategy. In this way, you avoid unwanted impacts and maintain more effective communication.
